I love insoles. I really do. The comfort, support and cushioning that insoles provide make my feet feel great.

I was recently offered an opportunity to review a pair of insoles from Sorbothane. Here’s my disclaimer: I received one pair of insoles for free to review plus two pairs of sole cushions for dress shoes. I’m under no obligation to publish my review, and the opinions that I share are based on my experience. O.K — so now for my review.

Position: Production Supervisor

Work Week: Monday – Thursday, 5:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Supervisor: Plant Manager

Scope of Position: To schedule production and assign job requirements to meet scheduled ship dates. To insure all products are made to specifications using proper materials and equipment at a cost effective manner. To provide a safe and clean work environment.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

• Open factory at 5:00 am
• Prepare and set up production machines for that days work.
• Assign production job duties for the day.
• Attend weekly production meetings.
• Train new employees.
• Responsible to ensure company has the proper number of operators and general labors to produce the required parts in a time frame that meets the company stated lead-time.
• Approve and schedule requested vacations of factory personnel.
• Assist Plant Manager in developing new manufacturing techniques to improve plant efficiencies.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
• Assign cleaning jobs as required.
• Responsible for maintaining high moral in the factory.
• Running production as needed.
• Run prototypes as needed and creating a spec sheet.
• Backup Shipping, Receiving, Q.C. and Maintenance.

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma and 5 years manufacturing experience of molded or manufacturing urethane, rubber or plastic parts.

• Knowledge of Micro Soft Windows and relevant computer applications

An original article, studying the effects cushioned insoles have in reducing impact forces during running, was published in the January/February 2008 issue of the Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association. Test subjects performed five running trials with a running shoe only and five running trials with the running shoe and a Sorbothane® shock absorbing insole. The results showed that the use of the Sorbothane® cushioned insoles during running significantly reduced peak impact force compared to the shoe-only condition.
