Sorbothane, Inc. Celebrates 40 Years of Excellence

Delivering Superior Parts and Custom Components Since 1982

Sorbothane 40th anniversary

Sorbothane, Inc. celebrates its 40th year of delivering proven shock, vibration, and noise-reducing solutions. Since its beginning in 1982, Sorbothane, Inc. has been committed to delivering superior standard parts and custom-engineered components – featuring the unique material Sorbothane®, all proudly made in America – by American workers.

Sorbothane, a unique viscoelastic material, was first introduced in 1982. Its initial applications included the development of shock-absorbing insoles for the athletic and orthopedic markets. The extraordinary properties of Sorbothane soon made it a highly desired material by both product engineers and entrepreneurs for reducing shock and vibration – thus preserving product performance and integrity. Produced in the heart of the “polymer valley” in Kent, Ohio, Sorbothane quickly gained worldwide recognition for its ability to achieve remarkable shock absorbing and vibration isolation levels. This revolutionary new material reduced shock so dramatically that it was featured on multiple national news broadcasts and TV programs.

Providing Shock and Vibration Solutions to Diverse Markets

Sorbothane, Inc. continues to provide shock and vibration solutions for numerous diverse markets featuring the Sorbothane material. Sorbothane components protect mobile electronic devices from drop shock damage. Precision lab equipment is isolated from unwanted vibration by Sorbothane. Consumer and commercial products benefit from Sorbothane’s ability to damp out damaging and annoying vibration and shock. Manufacturing equipment “floats” on Sorbothane mounts to last longer and run more efficiently. Custom-engineered Sorbothane parts protect critical NASA and SpaceX assemblies from the demands of space travel.

Recognized Worldwide

Sorbothane is recognized worldwide as the complete material for attenuating shock, isolating vibration, and damping noise. Sorbothane is a highly damped, viscoelastic solid that “flows” like a liquid under load. It absorbs energy along both the X-axis and Y-axis. Distinct applications call for unique solutions.

Sorbothane, Inc. is available to design, test, manufacture, and deliver the ideal American-made damper or isolator to meet individual product objectives. Contact us to learn more.
